Fashion For Men
Men have it easier than women when it comes to fashion, but that does not mean that most men are aware that some etiquette is required from them. Hopefully, a man knows some of the more obvious rules: Do not where white sweat socks with dress shoes, and do not wear them with sandals. If you wear suspenders, do not wear a belt, and a watch and wedding ring are the only real pieces of jewelry a man needs to wear. If a man is not married, then wearing a ring on his thumb, or any other finger other than the ring finger, makes him look more like a gypsy, then it makes him appear stylish.
Here is a look at 3 guidelines for good fashion for men:
Classic Says Class
Men who are confused by which fashion trends they need to follow should know only one rule: do not follow fashion trends. Looking at pictures of your dad wearing striped bell bottom trousers is all the proof you should need. The best trend is no trend, and if you are in doubt, stay with what has always worked. Pleated pants that come down just over the top of the shoes, a simple Oxford button-down cotton shirt, and a simple silk necktie, tied in a medium-sized knot.
Do Not Mix and Match
All men need to know this one: if you are wondering if you should wear the black belt with the brown shoes, the answer is no. If you wear black shoes, wear a black belt. Brown shoes go with a brown belt, and gray shoes can go with either a black or brown belt.
Know How to Apply Cologne
You want your cologne to give off a scent, not an odor. If your cologne is in a bottle with no sprayer, dab a little onto your pulse points. A touch on each wrist, each temple, and a touch on each side of the neck. Dab, do not splash. If you have a bottle that sprays, the safest way to apply it is to spray a couple of spritzes into the air, and then walk through it. Do not spray it directly onto yourself. These three fashion tips will get you noticed, without getting you gawked at.
